Flashbacks to Vietnam ~ Hồ Chí Minh and Đà Nẵng

First impressions of Ho Chi Minh: smoggy, dangerous roads, small people, lacking hygiene... cheap everything!

Our motorcycle adventure in Da Nang city

Starting off with a fancy bruncht, a total of $9 US for four people - pricey!

Riding up the curvy mountains

Breath-taking views on our way up to the top

Mommy looks cool

A perfect day for sight-seeing...

Purple lotus flowers!

Classic village-side rice paddy scene

A real, old, well

Basking in the sun... or waiting to get paid

There are many many of these workshops where young girls are learning classical Chinese embroidery. You can bring your favorite photo to this shop and they can embroider it - the threading is so intricate and detailed, it's amazing how much time and precision is put into one piece of work! The most amazing piece I saw was of a sunset view with boats on the ocean - the impressions of the reflections of light on the water is unbelievable beautiful.

A new bridge in Da Nang, Vietnam

Mom and I took a walk at a beach near our hotel. It was surprisingly clean, the sand was soft, and the water cool on the hot day.

Escargo stuffed with clear noodles dipped in fish sauce... so yummy

Usually my go-to fish at Vietnamese restaurants - Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio

mmm durian smoothie with coconut milk, tapioca, and other good stuff!

Christmas night, on our way to dinner with Dad's childhood friends who live in Ho Chi Minh city

Sour Fish Soup with Rice - AMAZING! Almost as good as how my dad makes it ;)

Waffles and Banana chips - street food from my mom's childhood memories!

Christmas Day traffic in Saigon - people are eating out, hanging out on the crowded streets, window shopping at the malls, and taking holiday pictures everywhere.
