As most of you know, I am taking my studies abroad this year. I have been planning this countdown for so long, that now, only a couple days away from flying, I feel somewhat unprepared for whatever it is I need to prepare for to go live in another country! Where to? Hong Kong, China. I have heard so much about this little place (lots of positives about the food which makes me drool, less positives about the locals which makes me curious), but have never been there myself. In fact, I have never stepped foot on that huge mass of a continent called Asia (with a small exception) - it is quite a shame, don't you think? It may not be the most daring or blood-tingling choice as a travel destination, but something tells me I will love it. From the lights and the convenience of traveling, to the shopping and late-night yummies.
I Cannot Wait ! ! !
I have been to - from the least to most "exotic" of places - the U.S., Canada, Hawaii, Mexico, London, France, Italy, and Istanbul, Turkey (this is the small exception: half of Istanbul is considered to be in Asia, the other half in Europe. FYI.) It gives me happy bubbles and makes me flush pretty pink to think that this time around I will be able to add onto this list Hong Kong, China, Vietnam, Cambodia - and if I find some loyal travel buddies, maybe even Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, and/or Japan (!!!). I will not bother trying contain my adventurous spirits this time. In fact, I will gladly let them run wild. And wherever they take me, I know I will come home with no regrets. This is my time.
But onto the Purpose. I just want to make a log of my travel experiences to record this chapter of my life. I am told that once I return, no one will care to hear about my travel stories and will only politely smile at my treasured travel photos after the two weeks. So maybe this way I can gloat over my abroad memories myself upon my return. :(
But really though. There's no one I would love to share these experiences with more than you! So here is to me and you. I hope you can find time to check up on this blog-like thing once in a while. I promise there will be many (probably mostly) pictures and pithy captions! And chances are that if you end up reading this, I would love to hear about what you're up to as well, so shoot me a message, yeah? Quick disclaimer: besides the embarrassing Xanga days, I am no blogger. And as you may or may not know, I can be awfully sentimental at times, so you may have to bear with my ramblings. This will be the first, most, and last, spelling/grammar-checked entry, so enjoy (oh no, did I fail already?)!
Yours,
Teresa
